Dr MR Purdy

Dr Purdy completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Cape Town in 2002 and went on to specialise in Urology at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits). He was admitted as a Fellow of the College of Urologists of South Africa in 2012.

During his specialist training at Wits he also completed his Masters Degree with a research report entitled: The Predictive Value of the NMP22 BladderChek test for bladder carcinoma in patients presenting with haematuria to a South African Tertiary Care Centre. In 2014 Dr Purdy identified a need for another Vaal urologist and began discussions with Mediclinic Emfuleni to become a Vanderbijlpark urologist. In 2020, after 6 years based at Mediclinic Emfuleni, Dr Purdy moved the practice base to Midvaal Private Hospital in Three Rivers. Dr Purdy also sees patients at his sessional rooms in the Doctor's Block at Cormed Clinic in Vanderbijlpark. 

Academic Achievements

Dr Purdy was awarded the Lionel B Goldschmidt Medal for top candidate in the Finals of the Urology Fellowship examinations in 2012 (only awarded in exceptional cases). In 2014, Dr Purdy was awarded his MMed (Wits) degree with Distinction.

THE PRACTICE

Our Practice
In August 2020 Dr Purdy relocated his practice to Midvaal Private Hospital in Three Rivers, Vereeniging. He continues to see patients from Cormed Clinic in Vanderbijlpark once a week (along with performing theatre cases there) and provides quality urologic care to new and existing patients he treats at Midvaal Private Hospital and other hospitals in the Vaal.
